A complete Grundfos solution became part of the plan in the design phase when the stadium was refurbished from 2010 to 2013.
Grundfos holds a strong position as a preferred supplier for major construction projects and has a long history of delivering pumping solutions to the worlds largest sporting events and venues across the globe. When the Olympics kicks off next month in Rio de Janeiro, Grundfos World-Class pumping solutions will play an important role, in delivering the optimal accommodation and competition
facilities to ensure that everything is running smoothly.
In just a few weeks, the eyes of the world will turn to one of the most iconic
football stadiums in the world, Estádio do Maracanã, when hosting the opening
and closing ceremonies of the world’s largest sporting event, the summer
Olympics. At a capacity close to 79,000, Estádio do Maracanã is Brazil’s largest football stadium and has hosted many exciting matches over the years, including several international tournament finals. A complete Grundfos solution including pumps for fire-fighting, wastewater and rooftop tank filling systems became part of the plan in the design phase when the stadium was refurbished from 2010 to 2013. The fact that Grundfos was able to supply complete, high-quality solutions for all systems, was a decisive factor. Grundfos worked in close cooperation with the companies that refurbished the stadium, contributing energy-efficient and sustainable pumping solutions. Stable pressure and flow rates were achieved using rooftop tanks, reusing restroom water and using pressure boosting systems. For the important booster systems, Grundfos was able to offer a solution which could work in a confined space. The high-quality products, design phase support and efficient service organization allowed the designers and contractors to avoid problems and adhere to the construction schedule with no costly delays. The complete solution has been performing brilliantly since completion in 2013;
